What is Telehealth? Telehealth or Telehealth consultations are virtual appointments conducted over the telephone or via videoconferencing. This allows you to speak to your health professional through a simple audio-link (telephone device) , or interact through a video-link.
Why is Telehealth so important? T Telehealth Service will allow patients to access medical services in their own home while they undergo self-isolation or quarantine and reduce the risk of COVD-19 for vulnerable people in the community.

Does it cost to access Telehealth?
Currently this service is Bulk Billed for the following patients
- patients who are required to self-isolate or self-quarantine; or
- meets the current national criteria for suspected COVID-19 infection; or
- is person identified as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander decent- is at least 50 years old).
All other patients are privately billed.
This arrangement is available for all patients who have had a face-to face consultation with a Doctor in the practice within the last 12 months
Do you have to use Telehealth if you don’t want to or if you require a face-to-face consultation? The short answer is NO. If people don’t have access to a telephone or an internet connection, then you can consult your Doctor with a face-to-face consultation, provided they believe it is safe to do so.
Is Telehealth suitable for all consultations? The short answer is NO. You may need a physical examination or a procedure depending on your medical condition that may necessitate a face-to-face consultation.
What are the requirements to conduct a Telehealth Consultation?Telephone access: either a landline or a mobile: for a telephone consultation Internet access, smart phone, tablet or a laptop computer with access to Google Chrome or Safari Browser: For a Video conference. A quiet area where you can conduct the consultation in a confidential manner.
What is the process in conducting a Telehealth Consultation?

- Please inform the staff your preference to a Telephone or a Videoconference.

Telephone Consultation
- At the appointed time, await a call from your Doctor in a quiet area that allows for a confidential consultation.
For a Video Consultation:
- 10 minutes before your appointment time, open www.beecroftfp.com.au on Google Chrome or Safari Web-browser
- Scroll to the “TELEHEALTH” button and click.
- Follow the instructions: this will place you in the “Virtual Waiting Area” indicating to the Doctor that you are ready to Video-consult
- At the appointed time your Doctor will when ready initiate the Video-consultation.
